Discharge Characteristics and Numerical Simulation of the Oil–Gas Surface under DC Voltage

Low insulation strength at the oil–gas surface due to oil leakage and partial discharge of oil-immersed power equipment is a major threat safe reliable operation systems. This paper investigates initiation development discharge. The test platform was established, tests were carried out different gap distances (1–2.5 mm). By coupling electric field flow field, multi-layer dielectric streamer model built, characteristics charge distribution studied. results show that liquid between electrodes rises during process. Furthermore, voltage exceeds air voltage. With simulation analysis, typical Under 50 kV applied 2.5 mm distance, average speed 12.5 km/s. larger distance is, greater is. recording numerical process are great significance for exploring mechanism discharge, optimizing process, diagnosing discharges.
